First day of travel, day two of camping. Camp position South 79 degrees 59 decimal 271 minutes position West 079 degrees 55 decimal 741 minutes. Distance from previous camp 1.3 nautical miles, time of travel 2 hours. Not exactly an auspicious start to getting 1400 miles done in this continent, but I’ll say the 30 knot winds and complete ground out where I could not see anything due to zero contrast conditions may have contributed that. Going up hill is not exactly easy no wonder nobody ever writes about this experience coming out of the inlet. The first half does have its tributes as problematic. The second half so far has been much flatter, it’s easier travel but it’s harder packed, making it more difficult to keep traction. The sleds are sliding well but there’s enough flow pier where they can actually start going backwards on me, a little challenging. Going to get to bed here, it is just after 9 o’clock, trying to power down as much dinner as I can, drinking about 3 and a half liters of water a day, doing pretty well.
