Old Bill’s Fun Run Timelapse

Any part with the race, banner or runners with time lapse were my shots. I had to be set up and shooting well before sunrise to capture the event, shoot through it, and finish late in the morning. It was five hours of chilly fun.
Philanthropic and Charity Events
As a motivational speaker, sometimes I get the chance to be involved with a program that’s bigger than myself. These events are always worth it. I wasn’t out shooting for a particular charity but actually for the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole itself. They collaborate with many organizations in the valley and provide a way for everyone to create greater value than they could themselves.
I did have the chance to share my Antarctica experience while chatting with one of the staff of Hughes Productions, one of the big event video and audio services in Jackson Hole. We had a good laugh talking about being in cold places and having to stand around while freezing. But since it was for a good cause, somehow the 5 hours of numb cold feet always ends up worth it in the end.
It never hurts to look around for a charity where you live and volunteer a few hours. Some have more rules than others but most all are looking for more donated help. Sure, you won’t get paid for it but that’s not necessarily the value you get back out of helping. Whether its for the senior center, a women’s shelter, or helping pick up trash, you’ll get a psychological payback that you can’t purchase. The smile you have after helping out makes you feel better and will help keep your heart and brain healthy.
I have the same feeling when I speak at the Boy Scouts of America, Kiwanis, churches, or any other organized community groups. I know they help citizens and give back far more than anyone could pay, so I’m more than happy to do the same.
